Trade deal secured with the United Arab Emirates 

Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have concluded negotiations on the Australia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The agreement will be signed later this year.

The negotiated package includes a framework which will encourage two-way investment, including in the sectors of the Australian economy that underpin our energy transition, such as critical minerals. The Australian mining industry will also benefit with tariff cuts on exports, including alumina which was valued at $1 billion in 2023.

Finalists in the 2024 Australian Export Awards have been revealed

This year’s 88 national finalists will compete across 13 award categories at the national ceremony on Wednesday 20 November in Canberra.

Charges for tailored trade support recommence

From 1 October 2024, Austrade ended the pause on charging for tailored trade support.

Austrade temporarily paused charging Australian businesses for tailored trade support during the COVID pandemic. As COVID pressures have eased, charging for these services recommenced on 1 October 2024.
